In this unit, we comprehensively explore the regulatory frameworks governing the management and handling of various types of hazardous waste. We begin with the Biomedical Wastes (Management and Handling) Rules and their subsequent amendments, ensuring safe disposal of medical waste. This is followed by an examination of the Electronic Wastes (Management and Handling) Rules and the Plastic Wastes (Management and Handling) Rules, addressing the unique challenges posed by e-waste and plastic waste.
The unit also covers the Hazardous Wastes (Management, Handling, and Trans-boundary Movement) Rules and amendments, detailing protocols for managing and transporting hazardous materials across borders.
Additionally, we study the Batteries (Management and Handling) Rules and the specific regulations for radioactive waste management and disposal. Understanding these rules and amendments is crucial for effective waste management and environmental protection.
