Introduction

Understanding air quality and adhering to air quality standards are crucial for maintaining a healthy environment and protecting public health. Air pollutants are classified based on their sources and characteristics, including criteria pollutants such as particulate matter (PM), nitrogen oxides (NOx), sulfur dioxide (SO2), carbon monoxide (CO), ozone (O3), and lead (Pb).

These pollutants originate from various sources, such as industrial processes, vehicle emissions, and natural events, and have significant effects on human health, ecosystems, and the climate.

Air quality standards set by regulatory bodies define the maximum permissible concentrations of these pollutants in the ambient air. Controlling particulate and gaseous pollutants involves several techniques, including filters, gravitational and centrifugal collectors, wet collectors, electrostatic precipitators, and bag filters. These methods effectively capture and reduce pollutants, ensuring cleaner air and compliance with established air quality standards.
