Introduction
Environmental protection is underpinned by several key legislative acts that address specific aspects of conservation and pollution control. The Wildlife Protection Act focuses on safeguarding biodiversity by protecting endangered species and their habitats, establishing protected areas, and regulating hunting and trade of wildlife. The Forest Conservation Act aims to prevent deforestation and promote sustainable forest management by regulating the diversion of forest land for non-forest purposes and ensuring the conservation of forest resources.
Complementing these, the Air (Prevention and Control of Pollution) Act targets the reduction of air pollution through the establishment of air quality standards, the regulation of emissions from industrial sources, and the promotion of cleaner technologies. Together, these acts form a robust legal framework that strives to preserve natural ecosystems, protect wildlife, and ensure clean air, thereby contributing to a healthier and more sustainable environment.
